Joho En Francaiswww.ChefJoho.comLettuce Entertain You Enterprises

Chicago's only authentic French brasserie and winner of the 1996 James Beard Award for "Best New Restaurant in the U.S.," Brasserie JO is a lively and flavorful tribute to the food and drink of Chef Joho’s native France, with an Alsace flair that matches the ebullient Joho himself.

As with British pubs or American diners, brasseries are emblematic social meeting and eating places of France. Offering robust cuisine, handcrafted beers and affordable wines in a vibrant atmosphere, brasseries are the social hubs of their neighborhoods.

"The joy and comfort of being in a brasserie comes from the customers," says Joho. "We encourage large groups of people to gather, enjoy each other’s company and relax over food and drink."

Two private and much sought-after wine rooms tucked into the far corners of the main dining room add a cozy feel and opportunity for private dining for groups up to 25 people, while the restaurant’s Salon Privé can accommodate up to 135 people. Named "One of the top bars in the U.S." by GQ magazine, the bar at Brasserie JO is the ideal spot to meet for a specialty cocktail or beer and nibble on a tarte flambee or cheese fondue as you catch up with friends and colleagues.

Nothing is more French than sitting in our café and enjoying a glass of wine in the sun. Open seasonally from late spring to early fall (weather permitting), the café at Brasserie JO offers guests a premium view of Chicago’s River North scene. Following French tradition, dogs are welcome to join their owners alongside the terrace, and are offered a complimentary canine gourmet meal of steak tartare.
